The SO-CALLED Defense of Marriage Act? According to Obama Press Secretary Jay Carney, yup:
Funny how Obama does the exact opposite of what he says he will do during a campaign, no? Did he not insist that marriage was between a man and a woman? I have said this many, many times in this blog: gay people can already get married. They can arrange their own ceremonies, hire
wedding coordinators, get someone to say whatever they want, exchange rings, and go live their lives together and consider themselves 'married.' Nobody in American is denied that. The issue here the
recognition of that union as a marriage by the state. And to that effect, We The People have said NO! As it is, marriage was created by God between Him, men and women. We can no more redefine that institution than we can remake
the laws of nature. And there is no constitutional right to force We The People to recognize anything other than traditional marriage as a marriage. If we are forced to recognize gay marriage, why not
polygamy marriage? Why not
marriage to animals? Or
inanimate objects? Why not extend those rights to polygamists? If it is all about
equality, why limit it to 2 people? Why
not let a man marry 2 women? Threesome marriages? Foursomes? Why must the state - aka We The People - endorse the gay ceremony? Or the gay relationship for that matter? None of this has anything to do with marriage of course, or equality or love. It has to do with jamming the gay agenda down the throats of We the People and indoctrinating our children into said lifestyle. If someone wants another person to have have hospital visitation rights, can't they just give that other person power of attorney? All such arguments are non-issues.
The definition of traditional marriage is one defined by God Almighty and cannot be changed by man, any more than the laws of nature like gravity that were put in place by God can be repealed by man. Again, that doesn't mean that a gay couple cannot have their own ceremony and consider themselves hitched. But when such a relationship is to be blessed by We The People by the Force Of State, something is wrong. Yet, that is exactly what activist judges have been doing. We The People have fought back through ballot initiatives, but the fight continues.
Hawaii recently turned down gay marriage, even though they have the most overwhelming Democrat majority of any state. That followed New Jersey that
voted down a gay marriage bill even though the legislature is Democrat-dominated. Gay marriage was also
scuttled in a ballot initiative in Maine. People in theses liberal states may have a good idea of what comes down the pike when such measures pass into law - indoctrination. Don't believe me? Read these:

President Obama is proud to support the Respect for Marriage Act, which which [sic] has been introduced by Senator Dianne Feinstein and Congressman Jerrold Nadler. This legislation would uphold the principle that the federal government should not deny gay and lesbian couples the same rights and legal protections as straight couples.
By “Respect for Marriage,” they mean desecration of marriage by officially establishing depraved homosexual liaisons as the equivalent of holy matrimony.
