90 Minutes: The World Cup of NYC

This looks like a fun film. I've been in NYC for the past 3 World Cups and if you can't be at the actual tournament there is no better place to be than New York. Even though the games may be taking place thousands of miles away, the World Cup vibe still permeates the city due to its multi-culti milieu. Definitely a topic worth documenting.

For more details on 90 Miuntes: The World Cup of NYC check 'em out on the book of faces. And to experience for yourself what the World Cup in New York is like, go get into an argument with a local Ghanaian cabbie tonight about the merits of the diamond midfield versus a flat four. It's good times.

Total Skills: 2010 World Cup Edition

Probably one of the best mixtapes I've seen since the World Cup...and it's all about the World Cup. It's a little long but it's hella good so it kind of gets away with dragging on a bit.

Fahrenheit 2010 Gets Name Change, HULU Release

Back in October '09 we talked about the trailer for World Cup expose film Fahrenheit 2010 and spent the next year wondering when the hell it would be released. Apparently it came out but under a different name (which is great way to get people to see your movie) and is now available in its nearly 120-minute entirety on HULU. The 2010 World Cup may have passed but given the latest allegations against Sepp & Co. it should still contain more than a smidgen of relevance.

Mick Jagger Brings Stadium Rock Attitude to World Cup

When you are the rock god that is Mick Jagger you do the World Cup a little bit differently than say, you or I, would. There is no wearing of jerseys. There is no singing (oddly since he is a singer by trade). There is no wondering if your ticket is a bootleg. And there is no queuing for anything.

There are however chauffeur-driven excursions to U.S. matches, V.I.P. seats beside fellow old-school party boy Bill Clinton, meticulously draped cashmere scarves, cameos by Sunil Gulati & Katie Curic and boasts of a post-game after-party at Sun City Casino with "gambling & lots of showgirls." Never in the brief history of this blog has a post cried out so loud for the tags "Geriatrics", "Music" and "Ballin' Outts Control" simultaneously.
