Last Night's Party: MLS Jamaicans Made Out Better Than the USMNT's Germericans

While the MLSers of the USMNT were busy not getting it done in Nashville last night, the MLSers of Jamaica --Dane Richards, Omar Cummings and Donovan Ricketts-- were tied up with beating El Salvador 3-2 on the road.

Richards, once of the greatest friendly match players in CONCACAF history, copped a brace and Omar Cummings snagged the difference-making third goal. Ricketts gave up two on the other end but one of them was definitely not his fault. The other one probably wasn't either...if you ask him.

BTW the term "Germericans" was coined by this guy. He should trademark it. Also if I was young, Black and single as opposed to old, Black and married I would join the U.S. military and request a posting in Germany because brothas seem to do well with the native ladies.

Serving your country is an honor and a gift. Planting seeds (see Timothy Chandler, Jermaine Jones, David Yelldell, and even Josh Wicks) to be cultivated in a soccer-rich culture then exported to the USMNT is just icing on the cake. A big, fat, U.S. Soccer-flavored cake.

Last Night's Party: RBNY vs. The O.G. Chivas

In case you were to old, too young or too tired to make last night's 11:30 pm start time here is the entire Red Bulls-Chivas match from last night. Even if you don't make it all the way through, stick around to see Dane Richards' sensational goal; nice to have that first "wow" moment of 2011 under our collective belt.

Joel & The Jamaican

If you're down with Dane, you should read this profile on him in the Wall St. Journal (yes, the Wall St. Journal). It's a more-than-decent account of his rise from the dirt fields of Jamaica to the community college baller of the year to current role as Thierry Henry protege. For me though the big reveal is that he is roommates with Joel Linpere.

If you've ever met or seen interviews with these two surely you can grasp how awkwardly amazing their homelife must be. What I would pay to be a fly on the wall while they sit on the couch and trash talk each other in heavily accented, marginally decipherable English while playing FIFA 11. And I can only imagine what manner of party & bullsh*t went down after the both scored against New England a few weeks ago.

This is easily the greatest/most lethal Caribbean-Eastern European collaboration since Russia & Cuba got together back in the 60's for the missile crisis.
