Benny Feilhaber is Ready for His Closeup

Benny

Pow. Benny Feilhaber on the cover of the Improper Bostonian, which despite the name, is not a publication catering to disgraced politicians of The Bay State. Naturally there is an in-depth feature to accompany Benny's sweaty-assed covershot and contained within is the story of the viral sensation that was the infamous "No Air" clip.

No, but it wasn’t supposed to be public. It’s funny in retrospect, but at first, I was devastated that it got out. A buddy of mine asked all his friends to post a video on Facebook, and no one was doing it. So he said to me, “If you do it, people will follow.” So I agreed, thinking only his friends could see it. Anyway, I was in China at the Olympics, and I was going to bed, so I made it and posted it. The next day, I had over 100 messages and comments. It was already on soccer blog websites.

Damn. Our bad.

All You Ever Wanted to Know About Gillette Stadium

Well maybe not everything. There is no mention of the important things like the selection of beer available to local drunks and the price of the stadium dog but there's a bunch of other random nuggets in there from Vancouver radio personality Peter Schaad who has apparently taken it upon himself to give us guided tours of every MLS stadium. Good looks Pete.

And is it just me or is Schaad the Canadian Glenn Davis?

Morning Show Features Hot, New England Stadium Talk

Should the Rev's local Fox affiliate be known as "Boston FOX25: our source for not-quite-breaking-but-still-quite-interesting New England Revolution news"? I think so but I'm kinda random like that. It also seems random that the Revs are on TV at this point in the off-season but hey, we take what we can get.

Still though you have to give FOX credit for giving 8+ minutes of air time to an MLS club; there's not a lot, if any, teams that have been the recipient of that kind of broadcast TV love in recent memory.

The Taylor Twellman Press Conference

Get Microsoft Silverlight

If you've hung out at TOR for more than a minute you may recall a couple of jokes being made at the expense of one Taylor Twellman. I've made my funnies --even a few I may regret-- but I'm going to give him props for the speech he spit at his retirement party yesterday. Dude spoke from the heart, was humble enough to let Steve Nicol interrupt him on the mic and (most importantly) at no point sounded like he was reading a brief, prepared statement. This was a real man throwing out real feelings and I appreciated it as much as anything he has ever done on the field.

So with that I'll bequeath TT with the rarest of TOR retirement gifts: an apology. I doubt he ever saw it or even reads this wreck of a blog but in case it got back to him, this right here may have been a bit much. It was written at a time when I was too chickensh*t to not write things that I wouldn't say/didn't have the stones to say to someone's face. If you saw or read that back in the day and happen to see this TT, my bad.

But since he isn't playing anymore he also gets another gift....the "geriatrics" tag. Happy retirement TT! Pow!
