VIDEO: They Were The NY Cosmos
Hate 'em if you want but no one does NASL-era nostalgia like the Cosmos and I ain't mad at that. You use what tools you've got.
I just wonder why the Earthquakes weren't milking this cow years ago. Why not flaunt George Best scoring the illest goal of the disco era? How about some footage of Guus Hiddink running the midfield back in the day cut with a clip of him running things from the touchline now? Or maybe some grainy, weepy footage of Celtic legend Jinky Johnstone?
I'm not trying to say that the current 'Quakes staff are doing a bad job or the the Cosmos are 100% crushing it. Hindsight being 20-20 and all it just seems like San Jose missed an opportunity back in 1999.

I Don't Care if it is First Kick and CCL Day, This is the Best Soccer Thing You Will See All Day
Check out the Kearney mullets on Harsey & Meola mullet? You can't tell me that sh*t isn't luxurious. And there seems to some Kid-n-Play-esque paired dancing going on and maybe even a sighting of "The Running Man." And who let O.J. on to the set? It's no "World in Motion" but it's ours America. Embrace it, own it.

I HATE TO BRING UP OLD SH*T BUT...
THIS HAS BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE BUT THIS VIDEO IS THE REASON THE ORIGINAL NASL FOLDED AND BLACK FOLKS IN AMERICA STAYED AWAY FROM SOCCER FOR A LONG-ASS TIME. THE SONG WAS THE JAM THOUGH AND REMINDS ME OF WHEN I WAS TOO YOUNG TO BE UNHAPPY. IT ALSO SERVES AS A REMINDER OF THE DANGERS OF DUDES IN SHORT-SHORTS.

SuperDraft 2007: Raw, Uncut & Dated
I have no idea where this came from but if you can get past the first 1.5mins it’s kinda fantastic: 25+ minutes of outtakes and unfiltered footage from the 2007 SuperDraft, the first MLS draft to ever be televised.
It’s as long as Marco Ethceverry’s Jheri Curl mullet but kinda funny. It has talk of Beckham’s arrival (which was announced the day before), Alan Hopkins playing hype man to the Chicago & Columbus supporters in the house, Mo Edu rapping and Rob Stone cussin'. Oh and Wynalda taking phone calls about land deals. Good times.
H/T to KR for the heads up.
