Out Of Sight - Silence Speaks The Words Unspoken (2011)

Hi folks, I'm back to present a record that I have been listening to a lot over the last few weeks. This record is called Silence speaks the words unspoken and is the second release by Out Of Sight, a one man band from Germany.

Usually, I'm not into Post Rock that much, because it is, in my opinion, all build-up and no pay-off. And a lot of that statement is true for this record, but the songs have a certain quality to them I cannot quite describe using my fairly limited vocabulary. I guess I could say that all five songs seem to be alive with so much beauty, but that would be cheesy, wouldn't it? I could say, that there are so many great melodies in those songs, which I tend to miss in other Post Rock songs. Or maybe, I could argue that I find this special blend of Metal and Post Rock to be very intriguing.

The fact is, that for most people, this record would be just another collection of Post Rock songs. For me, it is a lot more: for me, this is a collection of great songs and I do not want to put a lable on them, assigning them to a certain genre. This record contains 35 minutes of very beautiful music, it's as simple as that. 35 minutes of pure emotions which put a smile on my face every time.

Echoes from Jupiter - Europa (2010)

___________________________________________________________

Hailing from Quebéc, Echoes from Jupiter released the album Europa last year after their 4 track EP Io. Europa's impressive tracklist of 15 songs clocking in at over an hour, consists of shoegazy guitar tracks with a notable post-rock feel, consistently interrupted by more experimental, shorter songs.

When the albums fully blasts however, like in the middle section of the song Floating Neighbors and distorted screams throne above a wall of guitar-, bass- and drumsounds, nobody is able to resist to bang their head to the music. The title track utilizes that said strenght just as well, the band's keen sense of putting great vocal melodies above the louder parts of the album and more quiet sections take turns, so that at the end of the album only one wish is formed: to play it all over again!

Our Ceasing Voice - When the Headline Hit Home (2011)

Gradually the lights of the city come to new life, while the random flickering of the large neon sign three blocks away lasts and glances are lost in the distance. The sun slowly descends behind the silhouettes of the skyscrapers, taken over from the approaching night. The orange haze on the horizon is reflected in the windshields of the passing cars, raising the dust, which has been accumulated on the street. Here, between loneliness and hope, stories, which are able to change lives and guide our being exist. Soaking with melancholia Our Ceasing Voice tells these stories with their mix of hypnotic ambient and epic post-rock outburst and help the listener to catch the memories of long forgotten times, in order to save them from transience. Amidst the Tyrolean Alps the band was founded in 2006 already, but only with their debut 'steadied stars in the morphium sky EP' they drafted a journey through the mystery of gloom. Based on the upcoming novel by Sebastian Obermeir, Our Ceasing Voice's new 2011 album 'when the headline hit home' pursues this concept, while the development to a darker, more dynamic sound is clearly noticeable. Beautiful and saddening at the same time, the Austrians draw attention to fragility, passionately making one's flesh creep and thereby portraying a dramatic story full of yearning and desperation. How it will end, however, lies only in your hands.

Slow Dancing Society - Under The Sodium Lights (Release date: digital - 25th of august, CD - 30th of september 2010)

Slow Dancing Society is definitely one of my all-time-favourites out of ambient/shoegaze! Check out the new release!

Quote: "Perth, Western Australia; Spokane, Washington. The Australian music label Hidden Shoal Recordings has announced the eagerly awaited fourth album by US ambient artist Slow Dancing Society.

Following on from the ebullient warmth of the critically acclaimed Priest Lake Circa ’88, Under The Sodium Lights is Drew Sullivan’s latest ambient epic. The album feels like a distillation of the three stunning releases that preceded it – and as such is Sullivan’s finest work to date. The delicate interplay between focused melodic details and blurred washes of sound draws the listener into a hypnotic state, where the waking world and the world of sleep cascade in and out of balance.

First single ‘…and to the dust we shall return’ sees the gradual accretion of reverberant guitar tones, emerging from the silence as sparse reflections across the stereo field. Slow searching melodies overlap and accumulate before a descending bass figure carries the song home to its elegiac conclusion. From the luscious, tactile dream of ‘The Songs In Your Eyes’ to hopeful finale ‘Love Is On The Way’, Under The Sodium Lights resonates with a rich emotional core – and the choking realisation of our own transience. The album rewards immersive listening from start to
finish, to really soak in its beauty.

Slow Dancing Society is Washington-based musician/ producer and nostalgist extraordinaire, Drew Sullivan. With influences ranging from classic artists such as Brian Eno, Def Leppard, Tears For Fears, The Cure, Pink Floyd and Prince to contemporary artists like Manual, Explosions In The Sky, Sigur Rós and Hammock, Sullivan has developed a formidable reputation for producing emotional and immersive ambient music across four Slow Dancing Society releases.

“a complexity of sound that allows it to stand out from traditionally ambient music… It is easy to get dissolved in this album, to let yourself fall into meditation as the music plays… Textures and timbre are executed with great precision… Even the simplest of songs allow complimentary textures to be layered upon each other to create a robust yet spacious sound… an aural delight for the listener.” – The Silent Ballet on Priest Lake Circa ’88

“Music is all about moments like this. Moments when you are, unexpectedly, knocked over and stunned into submission by an album that has, quite literally, came from nowhere... deeply affecting, consistently excellent… demands repeated listening” – Boring Machines Disturb Sleep on The Sound of Lights When Dim

Under The Sodium Lights will be available as a digital pre-release on the 25th of August followed by the official CD release on 30 September 2010.

Hidden Shoal Recordings is an Australia-based independent music label that has earned a reputation for releasing exciting and engaging new independent music that is not bound by genre or style. Hidden Shoal Recordings was recently chosen as one of the top ten favourite labels of 2007 by Textura magazine and has been dubbed “This generation’s 4AD” by prominent New York radio host DJ Mojo."

Vision Éternel - Abondance de périls (EP) (2010)

Quote (myspace): "This page is formally that of Triskalyon. It has since moved on to become solely for Vision Éternel, as it is the most prominent band that has survived through the fall of the group.Vision Éternel is a band used to distribute the emotions left over by a past that ended hurtfully. Each release is a concept of a period and the phases which ocured. The idea originally started in January 2007, when a few songs were written one night, and differed from the bands I was in at the time. The first EP "Seul dans l'obsession" came out on February 14th of that year (on Mortification Records), and a music video was made for the song "Love within Narcosis", which was the first single. "Love within Isolation" would be used a few months later as a second (semi)-single.In June 2007, I began working on the second EP "Un automne en solitude". The first single "Season in Desperation" was released in late August for online promotion, prior to the EP being released. In February 2008 "Season in Absence" was finally released as the second single and on March 14th, 2008 the mini album came out, also on Mortification Records. It was during this time that I decided to test out expanding VE into a full band. The first person to try out was Phil Altobelli (who was known as Darklink in Triskalyon). Well his foreign collaboration didn't last very long. Finally I landed on Nidal Mourad and Adam Kennedy, who joined as acoustic guitarist and solo-ist, respectively. This was the most creative pairing so far, but only managed to re-work two songs, before splitting up.Through out the year "Un automne en solitude" got to many ears and finally landed on someone on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. A compilation had been an idea for some time but it wasn't until Frozen Veins Records offered me the opportunity to do it with them that it became an actual plan. The work has paid off and "An Anthology of Past Misfortunes" was released on February 14th 2009, as a two year commemorative to the first release. It contains both EPs (Seul dans l'obsession & Un automne en solitude) along with additional unreleased material and a poster. The package was pressed in a limited quantity of 100.Through out 2008 and 2009 I had attempted to write material for a third ep, and possibly have enough for a full length album. After going through three phases of new material, I realized that the full-length would not happen but that the third ep would be moving to a greater extent than the previous efforts. It would be the first material to be recorded and released to feature external help. Adam Kennedy came back in the picture to master the album and add his special touch to it, and Marina Polak contributed greatly to the new look by giving us a picture that represented the new mood of Éternel. The EP "Abondance de périls" was released on March 9th 2010 on Abridged Pause Recordings. Yordiscédo - RNDM (2010)

Quote: "Yordiscedo is a solo project from music composer Yordi Uytersprot. It's about wandering upon the unknown paths of sound, combining the so-called "uncombinable" and in general just doing what I like to do — surprising people. Expect some instrumental post-rock happiness mixed with energy, 8bit, indie-rock.. Enjoy the musical cocktail!"

worriedaboutsatan - Butterfly Effect Remixes (2009)

01. Maybeshewill

Leicester's Maybeshewill are one of our oldest friends. We toured with them back in May 2008, and ever since then we've stayed good mates and hook up whenever we're down south. We bonded over a shared love of silly porn, big vans and riffs. This remix is especially epic, and seemed a total waste to not release it, or at least do something with it! Big thanks to Robin for putting it together on a dying PC. www.myspace.com/maybeshewont

02. Binary

Binary, or Marco as he's known to his friends, is a one man IDM machine. He's currently a very sought after producer down in London (he was the man behind Blue Roses' debut) and a random commenter on our Facebooks. We first met him whilst playing The Love Apple in Bradford a few times in various bands, and he's always been enthusiastic about us, which is awesome. I remember one time, when we played at St. George's Hall in Bradford, and he was the first face I saw in the crowd when I looked out. Awesome. www.myspace.com/binary1

We hope you enjoy these remixes, and feel free to post them on blogs, burn on CDs, play them to your friends or do anything you like with them.
