Out and about...

bank holiday monday, went out to get a haircut in my uniqlo shirt, diesel black gold denims, converse sneakers and smelling of cire trudon "ernesto".

sunny day it was, so i wore my favourite tom ford "cary" sunnies.

i probably should rotate my shoes more often, but i really love my well worn converse. and it went with my simple non fuss outfit, so all good.

i rarely go out without a bag. i need my camera, notebook, wallet, coin pouch, house keys with me most times. i didn't even bring the ipad with me, but it would fit. again i have lots of bags, but i seem to always take the above nondescript indigo denim bag with me. best thing: the bag came free at one of the press days.

ah the simple days.

Out and about...

the who's who of society all congregated at the met ball in new york on monday evening. while most guys attended in the standard black tux, a few attendees decided to do something different. karl lagerfeld attended the event with blake lively (in chanel couture), and himself wore a tuxedo jacket from tom ford spring summer 2011. i like the black and white floral prints, kinda matches his hair and black sunnies, but those signature tom ford gargantuan lapels are just too severe.

Aaron Johnson at GQ Men of the Year 2010 Awards in Tom Ford

actor aaron johnson and photographer/director sam taylor-wood attended last evening's "gq men of the year 2010 awards" at the royal opera house in london. aaron wore an evening jacket from tom ford spring 2010. there were several other interesting jackets from that collection which i wished aaron would have worn. maybe he need slimmer fitted trousers and more exciting shoes to go with the blazer. if i can be honest, it made him look way older than his 20years of age. maybe it's his way of plucking the age gap between him and his 42year old missus.

i think the dinner jacket works on model jon kortajarena as they styled him with quirky bow ties and funky shades, making the floral print less stuffy. interesting look for aaron nonetheless, he stood out amongst the sea of black tux.

Packing...

last weekend was spent packing my bags, figuring what (and what not) to take for my 2 weeks vacation starting this friday. i figured, let's travel light, for everything else there's the mastercard. while victoria beckham travels in that absolutely "00o00h i want one of those" vintage goyard travel bag, i will be travelling with my vintage goyard travel wallet. the wallet is from the 70s and created by robert goyard (1893–1979). this is one of my favourite and treasured vintage piece.

and i feel that much closer to victoria beckham now.

during the 2 weeks away, i will be spending time with my folks, including time off at a beach / an island. so i will be bringing my favourite swim shorts: the orlebar brown black 'setter' shorts with gold tone hardware.

what's holidaying without some shades? tom ford 'cary' is my ultimate favourite travel companion.

shoes are the most difficult decision, i often overpack as i can't decide what to bring. well i need sneakers (converse) for the trip, flip flops (marc jacobs) for the beach and a pair of smart stylish shoes for my birthday next tuesday. mr hare "capote" is coming with me.

and for holiday reading, "blow by blow, the story of isabella blow". the book was delivered last week, been resisting the urge to start reading it. but it might be a tad too depressing to read on a holiday...

will be bringing my favourite prada keepall. amongst all my travel bags, this is the most well used. i will never underestimate the practicality of lightweight parachute nylon and the convenience of a shoulder strap. these are the key things i look for in my next travel bag.

not much left to pack, travel light i will. 4 more days till my retreat!

Jung Woo Sung at the 67th Venice Film Festival in Tom Ford

red carpet / black tie evening wear events are always a tricky thing for men. most stick to the classic bow tie black tux safe option, which quite frankly blends in with the ushers and security personnel. could always shake things up a bit: a quirky feather bow tie or perhaps a pair of studded evening shoes. or like what south korean actor jung woo sung did, wear a colored/patterned jacket. he looks absolutely statuesque in that tom ford tuxedo, standing out from the sea of attendees but never sticking out like a sore thumb.

pardon the slightly loop sided bow tie, he is perfection.

the 'buckingham' cocktail jacket was from tom ford's fall winter 2009 collection.

the jacket was also featured in a fashion spread in japanese magazine "sense".

earlier on saturday, jung woo sung attended a photocall at lancia cafe, lounging languidly in another tom ford blazer and tom ford 'cary' shades. the house of tom ford definitely dressed the right person, i think jung carries off the look really well.


and that's my pair of tom ford "cary". i find it difficult to find a right pair of sunglasses to frame my face but "cary" is a dream come true for me, a worthwhile investment. (this is only my 2nd pair of sunnies ever, and not much sun in london, that too...)

like the dinner jacket he wore for the red carpet event, the blue velvet blazer is also from tom ford's fall winter 2009 collection. timeless classics they are.

and in case you're wondering why he was there, jung woo sung was in venice to promote his movie "reign of assassins", the latest action flick produced by john woo.
